IN THE RIGHT

Adam Saldarriaga

3-D animation shows how far storytelling has come. From simple text and pictures, to flip book "frame-by-frame" moving pictures, as well as 3-D designs and renderings, there are many ways to tell a story. Adam Saldarriaga utilizes 3-D animation to tell us a story he calls In the Right, which appeals to viewers by presenting a scenario that could happen to anyone. An unfortunate event unfolds involving a person narrowly dodging a speeding vehicle only to damage someone else's vehicle. A choice about how to react must be made, but each choice carries different weight and consequences. By using a third person point of view, Saldarriaga shows how silly or awkward some reactions may seem to an outsider. In the Right asks, when you are wronged through the misfortune of someone else's mistake, how will you choose to react? What is the right thing to do?
