“Interphases” compiles introspective artworks that explore how our own archives, memories, and being—defined by the different phases of our lives—are marked and nurtured by our identities, experiences, and time itself. This section of the exhibition invokes the invisible process of remembering, utilizing the emotional space where nostalgia forms to leave the viewer reflecting on their own identity. The works in “Interphases” explore themes of cultural histories, identity formation, and memory. For example, Sira Kanchanamongkolkul’s Lost in Translation reflects on cultural memory and belonging through a vlog-style video that preserves language, family traditions, and personal experience. Similarly, Anna Rong’s Return to the 2000s explores fragmented nostalgic memories through layered visuals and shifting impressions emphasizing how recollection is unstable and constantly reconstructed. Amelie Zhao’s Unheimlich examines emotional memory and trauma, following a character’s journey through past experiences to highlight the difficulty and necessity of confronting unresolved feelings. Other works examine how identities are shaped over time, exposing the social and cultural forces that influence who we become.
