Can I Stay Here? captures moments of internal conflict as artists explore the relationships between different versions of oneself.
These projects create inner voices and omniscient narrators, alter egos, past and future selves, and forms of altered consciousness.
By acknowledging these relationships, the works open conversations about feelings of inner shame, self-preservation, grief, frustration, nostalgia, and disembodiment.
Rather than attempt to choose a path or resolve the difference between the many versions of themselves, this group of artists embraces cognitive dissonance and an unstable present. Can we stay here?
