Lemon Drizzle walks the bitter sweet line between industrial sugar production and home baking. Filmed with British Sugar, the scale of the factory is set in contrast to domestic scenes. Flashes of colour draw attention to workers in high visibility clothing, whilst their activity remains ambiguous. The film is underscored by the intimate sound of a lemon drizzle cake being baked. The film exposes the complex connections between agriculture, industrial production and home comforts.
Artist Bio
Amanda Loomes is preoccupied by other people at work and listening to what they have to say about the world. She uses the experimental documentary form to consider the frailty and resilience of collective human endeavour. She wonders what future societies will make of us.
