Artist Statement
Christina Liu is an New York born and raised artist working in film/video, photography and illustration. Being a first generation Asian American, she is heavily influenced by American culture and also her family’s Chinese roots. Her experiences traveling the world constantly challenges her perspective(maybe expanded on this and how it relates to your art practice) . Her artwork is largely autobiographical and often performative while discussing social issues, politics and racial injustice.

Christina’s work surrounds life during pandemic and how powerful social media trends can be. With the rise of social media, and the birth of TikTok, and everyone in quarantine, we’ve become closer to each other than ever. The Social Cloud is a 365 day collection of all the stories she has posted on social media in 2020, showing a calendar of posts, ideas, and trends throughout the year.
