Kaitlyn is a budding chef, or as she likes to put it, a quarantine chef. To pass the time during quarantine, Kaitlyn has decided to do some more cooking at home. Encouraged by family and friends, Kaitlyn is planning on creating her own Instagram page where she sells some of her newly made dishes to the people within her community. After establishing a few hundred subscribers, Kaitlyn decided to make an Instagram Live video where she makes chin baung kyaw from scratch. On the day of the live recording, she gets a ton of compliments and her fans love the segment. Would you like to see the Instagram comments?
While Kaitlyn was doing her show, one of the comments she received caught her attention. It said, “Hi! We’re doing a new study where we follow people around their daily routine. All you have to do is be on Instagram Live all day for one day. DM us to know more. All participants are paid.” She stopped doing what she was doing, and her viewers started commenting to ask if her internet connection froze.
She decided to ignore the comment, but after she stopped her recording, she received a DM from the same account, with the same message, this time mentioning how much money is involved: $2,000. Glossing over the terms & conditions, she checked “I agree.” Now, she is being recorded in more ways than one. Is it really only for one day, and only through Instagram?
